Our People: The Doctors of Chiropractic

Dr. Nina van Dyk BSc MChiro DC

Nina van DykNina was originally born in South Africa and was raised in a small town in the Eastern Cape. In her twenties she decided to visit the UK and it was only after treatment was needed for an old injury that she was introduced to the wonder of Chiropractic. From there, she decided to study at the world renowned Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth where she graduated with a BSc and a Master Degree in Chiropractic.

Nina has treated many patients for a variety of conditions such as acute and chronic lower back pain, disc injuries, neck pain, headaches disorders and often elbow and knee injuries. From early in her career she has also treated a large number of pregnant and pediatrics patients using safe, gentle and effective techniques to assist in a pain free pregnancy and easier delivery. Currently, Nina is completing her Post Graduate Master in Advanced Chiropractic Pediatrics and has successfully treated many common conditions from infantile colic to sleep disorders. She employs a 'utilization' approach to the uniqueness of each individual.

Dr. Lyana Munden BSc MSc DC

Lyana MundenLyana studied at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic (AECC) in Bournemouth. She is a member of the British Chiropractic Association, The British Chiropractic Sports Council and The College of Chiropractors. Lyana is also a Golf Health Therapist, part of an organisation that works with the PGA to provide Chiropractic services to Golf Professionals. Lyana has taken further studies in Advanced Rehabilitation, Acupuncture and Applied Kinesiology (AK). Having passed her Clinical Competence in AK, she is now a member of ICAK - the International College of Applied Kinesiology. Lyana's keen interest in Sports stems from having rowed at Junior International level for Great Britain. Now however, she enjoys sport at a more steady pace, by playing golf (or trying to).

James Cattermole BSc (Hons) BA (Hons) MBAcC. MRCHM

James CattermoleJames has trained for five years in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is a full member of the British Acupuncture Council and Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine. He has further studied in styles of Japanese Acupuncture, Western Dry Needling, Tui Na and PNF (Post Neuronal Facilitation), MET (Muscle Energy Technique) and Sotai Bodywork techniques.

He has worked and trained in the hospitals of Hangzhou, China. Here in England he has specialized in the treatment of digestive disorders, chronic and acute pain. James has also worked at the internationally renowned Gateway Clinic (the only NHS Chinese Medicine Clinic in the country), treating patients with a multitude of chronic conditions. He currently teaches at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture.

James was the first Westerner allowed to treat Monks at the Thamkrabok Monastery in Thailand. The Monastery's clinic is known worldwide for the successful treatment for alcohol and drugs detoxification.

Fern Bayliss - Sports Massage

Fern BaylissFern studied at Premier Training International, where she qualified not only as a Sports Massage Therapist, but as a Personal Trainer also. She devotes most of her time to FAB P.T Ltd, which is a company set up for Personal Training. Fern works at the clinic as a Sports Masseuse on Saturdays, complementing the other treatments at the clinic. Having danced since the age of four, Fern has always a keen interest in sports and dance related injuries.

Franco Secchi - Sports Therapist

Franco SecchiFranco is a highly skilled, experienced therapist, who has a solid background in Soft Tissue Manipulation, Neuromuscular Therapy and Back Rehabilitation.

Franco originally trained in the Italian Army (Italian Parachuting Troupe) in 1996, and then continued his academic education in London, where he then qualified as a Sports Therapists. Franco has been working with the Chiltern Cheetah's American Football Club (AFC) and has also been involved with amateur and professional Rugby clubs.

Franco is a firm believer in the powerful therapeutic effects of Sports Massage, not only for the individuals who engage in regular exercise, but also for the general public. His unique style of "hands-on" therapy blends traditional Sports Massage with more advanced Soft Tissue Manipulation techniques, followed by eastern-influenced stretching exercises (for the most adventurous patients!).

This treatment is particularly effective for locating and releasing tightness and hyper contraction in the tissues, correct postural faults, improve general muscle flexibility and assist venous and lymphatic flow.

Monique Palmer - Nutritionist

Monique PalmerWith an academic background in Health Psychology and Nutritional Therapy, Monique's experience in the Health and Fitness industry has concentrated on helping clients achieve better health habits based on nutritional awareness.

A consultation with Monique can help with specific health concerns which may benefit from dietary change and self-education (also Monique has a special interest in Eastern Nutritional practices and nutrition for children). You will be given an individual nutrition consultation that can be incorporated into your lifestyle. Supplementation may also be recommended.

Rubina Ali - Cranial Osteopath

RubiRubina is a graduate of the British College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her keen interest has led her to further pursue some key aspects of family healthcare. Completing postgraduate studies in Classical Osteopathy at the John Wernham College of Classical Osteopathy, Maidstone and Cranial Osteopathy at the world-renowned Osteopathic Center for Children and Families, San Diego, founded by Dr Viola Frymann. Dr Frymann is a legendary figure in the field of osteopathic medicine having made a major contribution to osteopathy in the cranial field through her extensive research and tutoring spanning over decades.

Rubina offers a comprehensive osteopathic approach to family healthcare. Osteopathic medicine addresses the underlying disturbances in the body's mechanisms. Cranial and structural osteopathic manipulation strengthens vital pathways while removing blockages to the body's natural healing process. This unique manipulative therapy is precise, yet gentle and restorative. Treatment addresses the complex anatomical and physiological functions of the whole body including the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), contained within the skull and spine through to the sacrum, at the bottom of the spine.
