Chiropractic
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a primary healthcare profession that places its emphasis on the examination, diagnosis and management of problems and/or conditions that can affect the nerves, muscles or joints of the body. Chiropractic originated over 100 years ago and today, Chiropractic is the largest natural primary health care profession in the world today.
Chiropractic can benefit the whole family, from baby to beyond....!
As well as being extremely effective for musculoskeletal conditions, Chiropractic can help people with other non-musculoskeletal conditions, such as Asthma, Menstrual pain, digestive complaints and Colic and ear infections in babies. This is due to the close relationship between the spine and the function of the spinal nerve at that particular level.
Your Nervous System influences your whole health and well-being
The spinal cord and spinal nerves that form the core of the Nervous System are housed within a bony column - the spinal column. Each segment of the Spinal Column is designed to move freely. If for some reason one or more segments stop moving fully (often due to simple day-to-day lifestyle and postural activities), then the nerves may become stretched and irritated. This often leads to pain and dysfunction. The areas of dysfunction are called Vertebral Subluxations.
Chiropractic therefore treats the cause of the pain not just the symptoms.
Chiropractic treatment mainly involves safe, often gentle specific manipulations by hand (called Adjustments), to free joints that are not moving properly. The adjustment often results in an audible 'crack' - this is simply caused by bubbles of gas in the joint popping due to the pressure change when the joint is distracted quickly. By allowing the joints in the spine to move and function properly once more, Chiropractic removes any interference to the Nervous System.
You have your own unique health pattern
Most people associate chiropractic care with just the treatment of back pain, neck pain and headaches. Before embarking on a Treatment Programme, we take into consideration your overall health status. For example, we consider your home and work environment and ergonomics, nutrition, sporting activities, hobbies and stress to see if it is having an effect on your health.

'I had been suffering with back and shoulder problems for some time which had built up due to sitting at a computer and using a mouse all day. Regular sessions at Hampstead Chiropractic have successfully relieved me of the shoulder pain. I have always felt very comfortable at Hampstead Chiropractic thanks to the friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.'
